Introducing…Ms.Neuschaefer
My name is Andrea Neuschaefer (pronounced "New--Shaif--Er") and I'm so excited to be your teacher! This will be my 12th year teaching and my 7th year at RIS.
Here's a little about me...
I was born and raised in San Diego,
California. I graduated in 2001 from Vassar College (New York) with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. While at Vassar, I was a four-year starter on the field hockey team. After graduating from college in 2001, I worked for two years as a paralegal in Washington, DC to save for graduate school. I earned my Master
of Education degree in 2004 from Marymount University (Virginia). I taught 3rd grade math for 5 years in Arlington, Virginia before moving to Alabama. Growing up, my dad was in the Navy; so in addition to living in San Diego, I lived in Washington state and Maryland. My parents recently relocated to Huntsville from San Diego and my remaining family lives in California. I am the youngest of two sisters
and one brother; and I am an Aunt to 9 nieces and nephews!
I moved from Virginia to Alabama in the fall of 2009. I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl on
April 1st, 2012. Our daughter's name is Solei ("So-lay"), which means sun because she truly is the sunshine that has come into my life!
In my free time I enjoy playing with my little girl, playing laser tag with my four kitties, bike riding, watching sports and movies, playing guitar, painting, gardening, and cooking.
